There's nothing particularly wrong with Blogger and I've got no real need to do this but...
Well, GitHub Pages + Jekyll turns blog management into a source-code management feast and it's possible to self-host for development / testing. In other words it's pointlessly harder to use, as far from WYSIWYG as you can get, and tremendous fun to muck around in.
Plus for the first time in about 15 years I can re-direct to a domain I own. Which is nice.
